A Masculine Card

I have a difficult time creating masculine cards, just like many of you, but using this fun paper from Simple Stories made it easier this time. It's a 6x6 paper pad I picked up the other day called, Harvest Lane.

I pulled out my new hexagon dies and had some fun putting them together to create a birthday card for a friend of ours. The sentiment is Hero Arts, from their Good Friends clear set.

With the hexagons repeating across the card, I thought I'd give it a go and enter it into the Moxie Fab World's Card Design Handbook Week: Repetition Challenge. If you haven't picked up this issue yet, I highly recommend it! So many fab cards and wonderful tips and lessons for cardmakers like me who struggle with designing a card. I seriously think it's their BEST EVER issue! I was especially inspired by Kimberly Crawford's card on page 60.

That's it for me tonight. I have one more day of work then I'm off for 9 days! Another "stay at home vacation" - just love those! Hope you all have a fun weekend! :)

Prisma Pencils on Black

Hi there!

It's a gorgeous day here in Minnesota. Bright, sunny skies, slight breeze and temps in the upper 70's - perfect for having lunch on the deck and puttering around in the gardens. But before I head outside, I wanted to share a card.

One of my favorite Hero Arts stamps is the Large Flower Background. I've made quite a few cards with this beauty. Here is one, and here is another. But this time, I wanted to try something different. I stamped it onto black cardstock with VersaMark ink, then clear embossed. Then I dusted off my Prismacolor Pencils and went to town. Took me quite awhile to color in all those white areas, but it was lots of fun too! Here's how it turned out.

Love how this technique makes the colors pop right off the black background!

Hope you're having a bright, sunny day too - thanks for the visit! :)
